Summary:
The Knowledge Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of knowledge resources within the Library and Information Science department. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining knowledge management strategies, systems, and processes to enhance the organization's ability to access, share, and utilize information effectively.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute knowledge management strategies aligned with the department's goals and objectives.
2. Establish and maintain knowledge management systems and processes, including taxonomy, metadata, and content classification.
3. Design and manage knowledge repositories, databases, and information-sharing platforms.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify knowledge gaps and create solutions to capture, organize, and disseminate relevant information.
5. Conduct regular assessments of knowledge management systems to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and relevancy of information.
6. Train and educate staff on knowledge management best practices, tools, and techniques.
7. Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration across the department.
8. Monitor emerging trends and technologies in knowledge management, and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives.
9. Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to knowledge management activities.
10. Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations when handling sensitive information.
11. Analyze and report on knowledge management metrics, such as usage patterns, user feedback, and system performance.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Proven experience in knowledge management, information management, or a similar role.
3. Strong understanding of knowledge management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
4. Proficient in implementing and managing knowledge management systems and tools.
5. Familiarity with taxonomies, metadata, content classification, and information architecture.
6. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across various teams and levels within the organization.
9. Demonstrated ability to train and educate staff on knowledge management concepts and tools.
10. Knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance.
11. Proficiency in using knowledge management software, content management systems, and collaboration tools.
